Unemployment Rate To Rise

BOA to cut 30,000 jobs.

There's been word that the jobs will be cut in the U.S., but there is not confirmation of that today. The announcement simply refers to "layoffs," with no mention of whether it's globally or not.

Just in time for Barry to run on some more great economic numbers..

New BAC Phase II is scheduled to begin in October and continue through March 2012, and cover those businesses and operations that were not reviewed in Phase I.

I don't think this is accidental either...

In 2009, President Obama promised that the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act would “create or save” 3.5 million jobs over the next two years and that the unemployment rate would not rise above 8.5 percent.

We will never see 8.5 percent unemployment until Obama is long gone.

New unemployment claims rise again...
The Verizon strike of course. Yea that's it.

They do their best to make it clear we are not near recession levels.

Initial claims for state unemployment benefits rose 5,000 to a seasonally adjusted 417,000, the Labor Department said, but still nowhere near levels that would signal a recession.

Nothing will change until a competent person moves into the White House, and brings some intelligent folks along.

Unemployment Rate Drops?

May soothe recession fears?

U.S. payrolls increased 117,000, the Labor Department said on Friday, above market expectations for an 85,000 gain. The unemployment rate dipped to 9.1 percent from 9.2 percent in June, but this was mostly the result of people leaving the labor force.

Am I missing something? Like the part about "that was mostly the result of people leaving the labor force"! WTF?

Update: From Bloomberg.

The jobless rate declined as 193,000 people left the labor force and the number of unemployed dropped by 156,000. The share of the eligible population holding a job declined to 58.1 percent, the lowest since July 1983.

New U.S. claims for unemployment benefits rose more than expected last week, a government report showed on Thursday, pointing to a labor market that is struggling to regain momentum after job growth faltered in the last two months.

Nothing will change until Barry is sent packing, that should be obvious by now.
